Spent the past weekend up at Donner Pass near Lake Tahoe in a wilderness medical training course. After Saturday’s class I got a chance to ride the old railroad route that drops down from the pass towards Truckee. It’s a crazy ride that follows along the cliff and through several dark snowsheds.
The light was already fading at the start of the ride so we had to turn back without traveling that far. On return to the summit, the sun had begun to paint the most amazing colors against the sky. I debated taking a photo knowing that I would never be able to do justice to what I was viewing. But, it was worth a try. What do you think?
Also, check out the following site I found that has a virtual tour (using QuickTime) of Donner Pass and the old railroad route:
Cheers!
