Just what are high transmission power lines transmitting to those that lie beneath?

Recent studies demonstrate beyond any reasonable doubt that there is a strong statistical association between exposures to magnetic fields of intensities greater than 4 mG and an increase risk of contracting a number of deadly diseases.

The California Department of Health concludes it is likely that this statistical association is due to the fact that the magnetic fields cause the deadly diseases.

Hmmm.

    We have power lines that go up over our hill and we go for a walk there is a section between two poles that drives our golden retriever mad. Steeler looks up at the wires and growls and starts barking as if he saw something frightening.
    The power lines that we have are not as massive as you have in the picture, but is that what he is sensing?
    It is only that one section should the electric company be notified, could that be a sign of a potential problem?

    zonk – Thank for the comments. The site http://www.powerlinefacts.com/ I reference/link in the description under the photo above has some good information. The other thing to consider is resale value when you buy a home near powerlines.

    seattle; many homes in regular neighborhoods have 60′ poles with 3-4 large diameter lines running either on the street side or on the back alley side of the home, trunk lines. what’s the safe distance that homes should be away from these, and what sort of EM field would 3-4 lines generate? -zonk 4/15/06 (considering buying a house)

    2. Demand more rigorous studies.
    3. Admit there’s a problem, but we can’t do anything about it.

    When I’ve occasionally biked under them, my HRM will often register interference by displaying a heart rate in excess of 220.
