I found this while digging through my piles of digital photos and thought I should add it to the site. It was taken on the road up to the top of the Tourmalet. This is the infamous pass that the Tour de France has used to torture racers. This portion of the road isn’t used. It connects with the paved portion which drops over the pass and heads down the valley beyond. A day or two earlier I had rode to the top and watched the 2003 race. It was an incredible site with all the fans, media, and the roar and excitement as the first racers came into view. And the speed of the leaders, that is always beyond belief.
