  • Red Rock in the Water

    Nice colors and patterns formed by the red rock and the water flowing past.

  • Ice Niblets

    Went for a hike in the hills near Burnsville, NC and spotted these niblets of ice along a waterfall. A light spray was drifting over, collecting, and freezing to form these treasures.

  • Regional Park Barbed Wire

    Old rusted barbed wire along the regional park boundary line. The park still has many sections enclosed for cattle grazing. But, no longer on this small portion.

  • Smoking Baby

    The “Smoking Baby” was one of the little silly gifts we received at Christmas. Comes with a 10 pack of “Li’l Smokes”. Light one up and the baby actually puffs away. Cool… um, I mean… that’s so wrong! 🙂

  • Little Dead Hummingbird

    Found this poor little hummingbird on the driveway. Beauty found even in death.

  • Little Orange Mushroom in the Twigs

    These little orange mushrooms have been popping up all over the place. They especially like the piles of twigs and leaves that collect on the hillsides.

  • Twisted Oak in the Fog

    Old twisted oak tree during a foggy day in the hills.

  • Finger Mushroom

    Here’s a funny mushroom. Looks like a finger or maybe the long tongue of some creature. Once I spotted this one I noticed that they were all over the ground. Very cool.
