Furry Flower – aka Purple Hibiscus One of the flowers growing in our backyard. Looks tropical. Almost like a carnivorous plant that entices its prey and then zaps it with poison. Or maybe not. But one can only wish. :’)

The fog and wind came in strong as it usually does on the 4th of July here in San Francisco. For this low lying fireworks, the wind added to the light show. Here is the high-rez version of the Fireworks image (904kb).

Here’s Hairy taking a break among the deep grass on one of the hills in Briones Park. The rains have really helped to keep things green. The grasses have grown deep and the wild flowers are abundant.

Some of the cows that roam Briones park like to gather near this gate in the evening. They will bunch themselves up into a tight group against the gate and fence. Maybe they feel safer with one side protected. Whatever the reason, the result is that they leave lots of fresh piles ‘o poop to…

There’s no parking here unless you’re an insect. All the rain has brought out the wild flowers and the weeds. This collection is growing along Filbert Street on the side of Telegraph Hill.
